What is LVT ?
Luxury vinyl tiles (often called LVT) are a type of premium flooring designed to replicate the look of natural materials—like wood, stone, or ceramic—while offering greater durability, comfort, and ease of maintenance. Unlike wood or laminate Lvt handles moisture well, so it is perfect for Kitchens, Bathrooms etc, they also are resistant to scratches, dents & stains making them ideal for high traffic areas.
A typical LVT plank or tile consists of:
- Wear layer – a clear top coating that protects against scratches, stains, and wear
- Design layer – a high-resolution image that gives the realistic wood/stone look
- Backing layer – adds support and can improve comfort or sound insulation
The Benefits of LVT’s
Most products have 15-30 years wear warranty some offer a lifetime warranty.
- Easy to clean as they are water resistant.
- Warmer than ceramic tiles.
- No sanding or sealing unlike like real woods.
- Relatively easy to replace damaged tiles with new.
Whilst herringbone floors have always been very popular we’ve noticed recently a real uptake in this design probably because it simply look stunning!!
